Kwan “Angus” Leung
What year did you begin working at Run With Us?
I started working at Run With Us in late June of 2022.
When & where did you go to high school? College? What did you study?
I went to Temple City High School, then took the community college route at Pasadena City College, which led me to McPherson College of Kansas. I studied Kinesiology and Wellness.
Did you run in high school and/or college?
I did indeed run for high school and both the colleges I attended.
When & how & why did you get in to the sport of running?
I was one of the faster kids in my Physical Education class, then the PE teacher convinced me to give track a shot during my Freshmen year. Did not look back ever since.
Do you have a favorite moment that stands out in your running career?
I guess a favorite moment would be when I finally broke 16 minutes in a local 5k, but soon realized that the course was a little short. It is still a favorite moment because it was my high school dream to break 16 minutes in a 3-miler at some point in my life, and I finally did it (it only took like 10 years after I graduated high school, but who’s counting?)
Any personal records we should know about?
1500m – 4:20, 5000m – 15:41 (unofficially), 10,000m – 33:43
In competition, what is or was your favorite distance?
I like anything between 1500m to 5000m. Anything over 3200m I’d prefer to run off the track.
Road, Track, Trails, Treadmill, Couch?
Anything but treadmill. Couches are underrated in the running world!
What do you enjoy most about the sport or your own running?
Running is what gave me an education and my current occupations. On top of that, because I am a victim of Epilepsy, running is what’s preventing me from the symptoms. Since I have to do it anyways, I might as well try to get good at it. My mind is also cleared when going for any sorts of runs, which I really love.
Since working at Run With Us, what has been your favorite aspect of the job?
It’s just such a great working environment, which is something I have struggled to have consistently in the past. And the fact that people actually laugh at my dad jokes during work is a major plus.
What has been your favorite running shoe of all-time? What is your favorite shoe currently?
It is way too difficult to pick my favorite running shoe of all-time, but my current favorite running shoes are the New Balance Fuelcell Rebel v2.
Do you have a favorite meal of all-time?
Favorite food is a medium rare steak, favorite meal would be hot pot.
Outside of Run With Us & Running, do you have any other interests?
With a name like Angus, food is definitely a huge interest of mine. As long as I have company, there are lots of things in the list of what I’m interested in (movies, exploring, beers, etc.)2023
