What year did you begin working at Run With Us?

November 2024

When & where did you go to high school? College? What did you study?

Troy High School, Fullerton, CA
University of Southern California:
- B.S. (2013), Kinesiology, minor in Architecture
- M.S. (2014), Physiology and Biophysics
Ph.D. candidate, Medical Biology; Dissertation:
- Antibody-directed–immunoconjugates in hematopoiesis and solid tumor treatment

Did you run in high school and/or college?

In high school, I ran to get out of P.E. because I would’ve drowned in the swimming rotation.

Fortunately, I was decent enough to walk-on to USC’s varsity track team.  But I sucked!

When & how & why did you get in to the sport of running?

I started running in high school because I don’t have webbed feet and can’t swim; and since my older brother was in XC and track, it was very important for me to be faster than him.  Little brothers always have to live in the shadow of their older sibling…

Needless to say, I’m much faster than my brother now.

Do you have a favorite moment that stands out in your running career?

Hm… perhaps running the Boston Marathon in 2016.  What an electric race!

Any personal records we should know about?

I once scored over 1 million points in Guitar Hero.  Def the PB I’m most proud of.
Second to that, 2:19:10 for the marathon.

In competition, what is or was your favorite distance?

In high school, the distance from track practice to the car home.  That must’ve been about a few hundred feet, and boy was I quick to leave practice.

In college and post-collegiately, anything long distance, as well as the marathon.  Go figure.

Road, Track, Trails, Treadmill, Couch?

Rug.  Floor.  Sometimes bed, with two cats on top of me.  While I stare up at the ceiling, depressed.

What do you enjoy most about the sport or your own running?

It’s given me Mankind’s Greatest Calves.

Since working at Run With Us, what has been your favorite aspect of the job?

Meeting fun characters!  Some people are just so silly.  I mean, who’d think running is fun?  Good grief!

What has been your favorite running shoe of all-time? What is your favorite shoe currently?

All-time: New Balance 890.  BRING IT BACK.
Currently: New Balance 1080.

Do you have a favorite meal of all-time?

Lasagna.  Pan dulce.  Gummi worms.  I miss the lazy afternoons I spent at Souplantation…

Outside of Run With Us & Running, do you have any other interests?

Being the best Dad to the most doggy-dog cats that ever dogged.
